Congratulations to LSBC Board Member, Valerie Tyler
Board Of Trustees Congratulates Valerie Tyler on 6 Years of Service to LSBC It is with joy and sadness that Leadership Santa
Barbara County announces the departure of Valerie Tyler
from the LSBC Board of Trustees. Valerie has steadfastly
held the position of Curriculum Chair, Recruitment
Chair, Secretary, Vice President and most recently,
Treasurer. It’s not often an all volunteer organization
such as LSBC benefits from such a professional and
passionate supporter like Valerie. She was deeply
committed to the excellence of the Leadership Santa
Barbara program and often spoke of her experience as
vital to her other community outreach efforts on which
she continues to focus. Valerie has a long lineage of
community involvement having served in leadership
capacities with the Junior League. Like many of our
alum, Valerie has indicated that she still wishes to
serve LSBC in a volunteer role and the board would like
to thank her for her many years and hours of service and
support.
The Board of Trustees for Leadership Santa Barbara County would like to extend a heartfelt thank you and wish her all the best.

Class of 2012 Chooses DAWG for their Community Service Project
The 2011-2012 class of Leadership Santa Barbara County (LSBC) will continue the organization’s “class project” tradition by showing its commitment to supporting a local non-profit organization. This year’s class is partnering with DAWG. The “class project” was inspired by LSBC Board members who felt the program could contribute meaningfully and tangibly in the community.
LSBC will assist DAWG in their efforts to improve their facilities and will create an outdoor learning space that will include an open air structure suitable to hold classes and training. The facility will feature planter beds, fruit trees, and equipment used in traditional pet training. As always, the class not only require your financial support but your support through your connections to the Santa Barbara Business and Non Profit community that will be needed to procure the hardware, trees and resources needed to complete the project. Please contact us if you have any support or resources to volunteer.

President's Message
Greetings to all,
I'd like to congratulate Valerie Tyler on six incredible years supporting the LSBC program through her involvement in the Board of Trustees. She has essentially held every position on the board other than President and was deeply committed to providing excellence, in particular to our Curriculum. This is time of year that we honor the good deeds done by the many great folks and organizations in the Community and Valerie is to be held in high esteem for her commitment to Santa Barbara and LSBC. Thank you Valerie for your hundreds of hours committed to LSBC and commitment to providing an excellent program for the Santa Barbara community.
I also ask that you mark your calendars and join us, if just for 30 minutes, at one of this year's topic days—the topics and dates have been provided below.
It has been another great year for LSBC and on behalf of the board, have a great holiday and Happy New Year!
Brian Schwabecher, Board President
