LSBC Board of Trustees Announces formation of
LSBC Advisory Council
As Leadership Santa Barbara County embarks on another 20 years of service to our community, the Board of Trustees recently met to determine who has been integral to the success of the program. Much of the success was found to have originated from those who have been verbal, emotional and committed proponents of LSBC. In this regard and as part of our 20th anniversary celebration, the Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the creation of an Advisory Council. The council is composed of those important individuals who have played a major role in Leadership’s history. We'd like to thank those who have offered their time and their energies to Leadership Santa Barbara and when and if you see these individuals, please congratulate them on their service and commitment to Santa Barbara Leadership.

Class of 2010 To Complete Community Project at Workdays
As part of the LSBC Curriculum, the current class is required to complete a community service project to integrate the various lessons learned throughout the year. This year's project involves the creation of composting facilities on the Laguna Cottages property and the creation and implementation of a composting education and maintenance program. The resources will be sustained primarily by the residents for use in their community garden as well as their own potted plants near their cottages. Executive Director Beebee Longstreet is “looking forward to working with Leadership Santa Barbara County and involving our residents in a green project.”
The Class of 2010 has scheduled a day long "work day" for May 1, 2010 at Laguna Cottages. They will be relocating a fence, leveling the green waste area, building block walls for green waste area (see picture above) and will provide the residents with training in the afternoon. ALL ALUMNI AND FRIENDS are asked to help with the construction and/or welcome to stop by to check out this year's project. The class will be working from 9am to 3pm on May 1, 2010 at Laguna Cottages, located at 803 Laguna Street in downtown Santa Barbara.
Laguna Cottages for Seniors has been serving Santa Barbara Seniors for over half a century. The community provides affordable housing for elderly citizens with limited finances. For more information on this project, past projects and current program information, please email Leadership Santa Barbara County or view the Laguna Cottages webpage.

President's Message
Thanks so much to all those alumni who joined us at our 20th Anniversary Kick-Off mixer hosted by past Distinguished Leader and LSBC Alum, Miguel Avila. At the Kick-Off mixer, we informally announced the addition of an advisory council to support the efforts of LSBC. The council roster (see above) is reflective of the 20 year history of LSBC with graduates and non-graduates who have supported our program over the years. They will be tasked to raise awareness, help recruit and make recommendations to the board on an ongoing basis.
I also ask that you mark your calendars and join us at the class project ribbon cutting and BBQ Lunch to be held at Laguna Cottages in Santa Barbara. All alumni and guests are welcome at the ribbon cutting as well as the BBQ. This year's class will be graduating on May 20, 2010 at the Santa Barbra maritime museum and look for more information about our August or September 20th Anniversary Gala. Also, please join us on Facebook or visit www.leadsb.org for all upcoming events and program information.
Finally, we have started the recruitment process for the Class of 2011, which should be another exciting year. Please forward any potential recruits to Victor Garza, the Recruitment Chair, and we'll make sure we reach out and welcome their interest to this truly special organization. I hope you have a great spring and hope see to many of you at our numerous upcoming events.
Brian Schwabecher, Board President
