Leadership Santa Barbara County is an issue-oriented leadership development program limited each year to 30 diverse individuals who are committed to civic leadership. The program is open to anyone who lives, works, or attends school in Santa Barbara County.
Santa Barbara County needs community leaders with diverse backgrounds and beliefs to work together effectively to address issues affecting us all. Gaining a working knowledge of these local issues and of vital community projects is essential to ensure seamless coordination of thousands of concerned citizens' efforts. Leadership Santa Barbara County participants develop the skills and vision needed to successfully maintain our quality of life and to lead our county into the future.
If you are interested in making Santa Barbara County a better place to live and work, this is a great opportunity for you. Leadership alumni are a knowledgeable civic resource with a broad-based perspective. Our graduates contribute locally as leaders in business, non-profits, public office and governmental positions.
As a LSBC participant, you will gain invaluable skills of conflict resolution, consensus building, working with the Media, organizing meetings, conducting focus groups, and public speaking. During the program you will develop relationships with current and aspiring community leaders. These skills and relationships will benefit you in both your personal and professional life and assist you in unlocking your potential.
