Dear Leadership Santa Barbara County Graduates and Friends,
The Board of Trustees is pleased to tell you about upcoming activities related to next year's program, and describe immediate opportunities to contribute to the continuing success of Leadership Santa Barbara County.
The Recruitment Committee welcomes and needs your help soliciting candidates. Please, if you have any candidates in mind for the program this year, share their contact information with Victor Garza, Recruitment Chair. Then forward the application link below directly to your colleagues with an explanation as to how you think they could benefit from the program. Applications can be completed and submitted on-line through the link provided here:
www.leadsb.org. The program year begins October 1, and the application deadline is September 1. Full tuition for the year is $1,250 and we do offer scholarships of up to 50% for program candidates who explore creative financing options and still demonstrate the need for a discount. Please take action on this now (or not later than August 18).
We believe Leadership Santa Barbara County offers the best local low cost approach to leadership training. In addition to the fact that there are no travel costs associated with the program, it is also a fantastic way to gain exposure to local issues in our community, and the public, private and non-profit agencies who are working in them. The tuition fees cover materials, a one day Performance Edge ropes course with Relly Nadler of True North Leadership, one day of intensive Meyers Briggs and leadership skills training, seven monthly Topic Days exploring Leadership Topics with Relly, a class led curriculum addressing Santa Barbara County issues, and completion of a community based project .
If you, as we, are concerned about the economic climate and its impact on participation, please use the information above to communicate the program benefits when you refer a candidate to Leadership. Additionally, we are now set up to accept on line donations via PayPal from our website! As always, donations are tax deductible and are used solely to enable more scholarship opportunities for the incoming class. Please consider a gift now.
This year, the class will again be completing a class project. The class will work with the sponsoring organization for approximately 6 months in planning the project, to be culminated with a community service final topic day in May. If you are interested in nominating a project idea, or working on the project, please contact us immediately at info@leadsb.org. Click here to see photos from the Class of 2008-2009 project and to learn more.
The Board welcomes graduates and friends to every Topic Day. The current list of topic days and skills is posted to the calendar on our website. Please participate by attending all or part of any session (location and agenda to be announced monthly). Additionally, please save the date for an Alumni Mixer with the new class on the afternoon of Friday October 16th.
Listen to Ken Blanchard speak from the heart in this VoiceAmerica Business Radio interview. Relly provides access to this and other leadership thought leaders for Leadership graduates.
The Topic Day Advisor is an integral part of the success of our program. Please let Valerie Tyler, Curriculum Chair know if you would like to be a Topic Day Advisor. Topic Day Advisors will be asked to attend the last part of Skills Day on October 16th, to meet their groups. We need approximately 15 volunteers for these roles. If you are interested, but would like a job description before you commit, please respond to Valerie by September 1.
We are happy to have recently welcomed Monica Ballon, Valerie Ellis, Victor Garza and Sarah Herbold to the Board of Trustees. We are currently soliciting interest for membership on the Board, if you are interested in nominating a candidate (or serving yourself) please reply to info@leadsb.org directly by September 15 and we will send you a Nomination Form.
